Partition on Set A

It is defined to be a set of non-empty subsets Ai, which are pairwise disjoint as there is no intersection and whose union yields to original set A. This means that the two condition that are to be satisfied are:
Partition on Set A conditions
Partition on Set A is indicated as given below:

Partiton on Set A indication

Covering on Set A

It is defined as a set on non-empty subsets Ai, whose union leads to the original set A and which are need not be pairwise disjoint. Here are the two conditions that are to be satisfied:
Covering on set A conditions

Rule of Addition

Given partition on 'A' be Ai where i = 1, 2, 3,.........,n
Rule of Addition on Set A

Rule of Inclusion & Exclusion

Rule of addition is not applicable on the covering on Set A since the individual subsets are not disjoint. In such a case this Rule of Inclusion & Exclusion is applied. Therefore by generalizing above form we get:
Rule of Inclusion & Exclusion on Set A

Set Theory and Sets are one of the fundamental and widely present concepts in mathematics. A Crisp Setor simple a Set is a well-defined collection of distinct objects where each object is considered in its own right. Here are the 11 main properties/laws of crisp sets:

Law of Commutativity:

  • (A ∪ B) = (B ∪ A)
  • (A ∩ B) = (B ∩ A)

Law of Associativity:

  • (A ∪ B) ∪ C = A ∪ (B ∪ C)
  • (A ∩ B) ∩ C = A ∩ (B ∩ C)

Law of Distributivity:

  • A ∪ (B ∩ C) = (A ∪ B) ∩ (A ∪ C)
  • A ∩ (B ∪ C) = (A ∩ B) ∪ (A ∩ C)

Idempotent Law

  • A ∪ A = A
  • A ∩ A = A

Identity Law

  • A ∪ Φ = A => A ∪ E = E
  • A ∩ Φ = Φ => A ∩ E = A
Here Φ is empty set and E is universal set or universe of discourse.

Law of Absorption

If A is a subset of B and conversely B is a superset of A then
  • A ∪ (A ∩ B) = A
  • A ∩ (A ∪ B) = A

Involution Law

  • (Ac)c = A

Law of Transitivity

  • If A ⊆ B, B ⊆ C, then A ⊆ C

Law of Excluded Middle

  • (A ∪ Ac) = E

Law of Contradiction

  • (A ∩ Ac) = Φ

De morgan laws

  • (A ∪ B)c = Ac ∩ Bc
  • (A ∩ B)c = Ac ∪ Bc

Countable Set

S is a given set, if we can define a one-one mapping from S to the set of natural numbers N. Then S is called as a countable set.

For example :-
  1. Every finite set is a countable set.

  2. Set of integers is a countable set.

  3. Set of rational numbers is a countable set.

Uncountable Set

A set which is not countable which implies there cannot be a one-one mapping possible from the given set to set of natural numbers then that set is called an uncountable set.

Addition Theorem on Probability

For any two event A, B the Probability of A union B equals to probability of A added to probability of B minus probability of A intersection B.
P (A∪B) = P(A) + P(B) - P(A∩B)

Proof :-

Suppose,
the simple events in A∩B are γ1, γ2, γ3,............,γk

simple events in A are
α1, α2, α3,..........,αm, γ1, γ2, γ3,............,γk

simple events in B are β1, β2, β3,..........,βn, γ1, γ2, γ3,............,γk

Then simple events in A∪B = α1, α2, α3,..........,αm, β1, β2, β3,..........,βn, γ1, γ2, γ3,............,γk

Number of simple events in A∩B = k
Number of simple events in A = m+k
Number of simple events in B = n+k
Number of simple events in A∪B = m+n+k

If we suppose number of simple events in S = N, then
  • P(A∩B) = k/N

  • P(A∪B) = (m+n+k)/N

  • P(A) = (m+k)/N

  • P(B) = (n+k)/N

But according to the theorem we have
→ P(A) + P(B) - P(A∩B) = P (A∪B)

considering L.H.S(left hand side of equation above)
P(A) + P(B) - P(A∩B)
= (m+k)/N + (n+k)/N - k/N
= (m+n+k)/N
= P (A∪B)

Note that, if A and B are exclusive events then P (A∪B) = P(A) + P(B)

Remark:- For any three events A,B,C
P(A∪B∪C) = P(A) + P(B) + P(C) - P(A∩B) - P(B∩C) - P(C∩A) + P(A∩B∩C)

And
  1. If A,B,C are mutually exclusive events, then P(A∪B∪C) = P(A) + P(B) + P(C)

  2. If A,B,C are mutually exclusive and exhaustive events, then P(A∪B∪C) = P(A) + P(B) + P(C) = 1
In general, if we consider A1, A2, A3,.........,An are any n elements then
probability-of-n-events
Note :-
  1. If A1, A2, A3,........,An are any n mutually exclusive events, then
    probability-of-n-mutually-exclusive-events

  2. If A1, A2, A3,........,An are mutually exclusive and exhaustive events then
    probability-of-n-exclusive-exhaustive-events

Since A and complimentary element of A are exclusive and exhaustive for any event A we get,
probability-of-complimentary-element-of-A

If A,B are two events such that A is subset of B then P(B-A) = P(B) - P(A)
Note that, for any two events A,B P(B-A) = P(B) - P(A∩B)

Random Experiment or Trail

An experiment which satisfies the following conditions is called as a random experiment.
  1. It can be conducted several number of times under similar conditions.

  2. The list of all the outcomes of the experiment must be known.

  3. The result of the experiment is uncertain.

For example: tossing a coin, rolling a symmetric dye, drawing a card from a well shuffled pack of cards etc.

Simple Events

Each outcome of a random experiment is called a simple event.

Sample Space

A set of sample events of a random experiment is called a sample space.

Event

Every subset of the sample space of a random experiment is called as an event.

For example, if we consider an experiment of drawing a card from a well shuffled pack of cards, "getting a king card" is an event whereas getting a spate king is a simple event.

Impossible and Certain Events

If 'S' is the sample space then Φ, s are subsets of S. Φ is called impossible event and s is called certain event. That is, an event which has no chance of occurring is called as impossible event and an event which always occurs is called as a certain event.

The important point to note here is - If the sample space has n-simple events then the total number of events that may occur is 2 to the power of n (2n).

Exclusive Events

If two events are disjoint in the sample space then they are called as exclusive events. That is, if the happening of one event restricts the happening of the other then the events are said to be exclusive.

Mutually or Pairwise Exclusive Events

A1, A2, A3,........., An are said to be mutually exclusive if and only if
condition for mutually or pairwise exclusive events

Exhaustive Events

If the union of the given events is the sample space, then they are called as exhaustive events. That is whenever the experiment is conducted if we get one of the given events always then the given events are called as exhaustive events.
If for the events, A1, A2, A3,.........,An union of all these events equals sample space then all the events are called exhaustive events.
condition-for-the-events-to-be-exhaustive

Complimentary Event

S is a sample space, A is any event, then the event S-A is called or defined as complimentary event of A and is denoted and defined as follows:
complimentary-event-of-A

complimentary-events-pictorial
Note that both both 'A' and 'Complementary event of 'A' are exclusive & exhaustive events.

Non-Homogeneous Linear Equations:-

a1 x + b1 y + c1 z = d1
a2 x + b2 y + c2 z = d2
a3 x + b3 y + c3 z = d3 is called a system of non-zero homogeneous linear equations.
non-homogeneous-linear-equation-matrices
then it can be written as AX = B where A is called co-efficient matrix.

Consistent and Inconsistent System :-

If a system of linear equations has a solution then the system is said to be consistent. Otherwise it is said to be inconsistent system.

Different Methods to Solve Non-Homogeneous System :-

The different methods to solve non-homogeneous system are as follows:
  1. Matrix Inversion Method :-
Suppose the given system is AX = B and A is non-singular then inverse of A exists.
    Matrix Inversion Method

  2. Cramer's Rule :- Suppose the given system is
    a1 x + b1 y + c1 z = d1
    a2 x + b2 y + c2 z = d2
    a3 x + b3 y + c3 z = d3 and Δ, Δ1, Δ2, Δ3 are as given below, then by multiplying the equations with A1, A2, A3 and then by adding we get x(a1A1 + a2A2 + a3A3) + y(b1A1 + b2A2 + b3A3) + z(c1A1 + c2A2 + c3A3) = d1A1 + d2A2 + d3A3

    x.Δ + y.0 + z.0 = Δ1 -> x = Δ1 / Δ

    Similarly multiplying the equations with B1, B2, B3 and then by adding we get y = Δ2 / Δ and by multiplying C1, C2, C3 and by adding we get z = Δ3 / Δ.
Cramer's Rule of Solving Non-Homogeneous System

  3. Gauss Jordan Method : For this method elementary row transformations are done. The following are called elementary row transformations:
    1-> Interchange the two rows.
    2-> Multiplication of a row with a non-zero constant K.
3-> Addition of products of elements of a row and a constant K to the corresponding elements of some other row.

    Augmented Matrix :-

For the non-homogeneous linear system AX = B, the following matrix is called as augmented matrix.
    Augmented-Matrix of the system AX=B

    Working Rule :-

    Suppose the given system is
    a1 x + b1 y + c1 z + d1 = 0
    a2 x + b2 y + c2 z + d2 = 0
    a3 x + b3 y + c3 z + d3 = 0
By applying the elementary row transformation we have to transfer the Augmented matrix into the standard solution form as given below after which we can the solution as x = α | y = β | z = γ
    Gauss-Jordan-Method-working-rule

Homogeneous Linear Equations:-

a1 x + b1 y = 0
a2 x + b2 y = 0
is called a system of homogeneous linear equations in x and y.
Then the above system can be written as AX = 0

Definitions

Coefficient Matrix :-

In the system AX = 0, A is called as coefficient matrix.
solution :-
If x= x1, y = y1 satisfy the given system AX = 0 then
solution of AX=0
Trivial Solution :-
For the system AX = 0, X is clearly a solution. Null matrix 0 is called zero solution or trivial solution of AX = 0.

--> If the coefficient matrix A is non-singular matrix then the system AX = 0 has only zero solution.

--> If system AX = 0 has atleast 1 non-zero solution, then coefficient matrix A is singular. This can also be written as follows:
If there exists (x, y) not all zeros, such that
a1 x + b1 y = 0
a2 x + b2 y = 0
then x, y can be eliminated from the above equations.
eliminant-is-determinant-of-A
--> If X1 and X2 are any two solutions of the system AX = 0, then for any two scalars a1 and a2, a1X1 + a2X2 is also a solution.

--> If AX = 0 has atleast 1 non-zero solution then the system has infinite number of solutions.

Homogeneous Linear Equations in x, y, z

a1 x + b1 y + c1 z = 0
a2 x + b2 y + c2 z = 0
a3 x + b3 y + c3 z = 0 is called a system of homogeneous linear equations in x, y, z.
for-a-system-of-homogeneous-linear-equations-in-x-y-z
Then the above system can be written as AX = 0.

Remarks :-

  1. If A is non-singular then 0 solution is the only solution of AX = 0.

  2. If AX = 0 has atleast one non-zero solutions then A is singular. In other words if there exists x, y, z not all zeros such that a1 x + b1 y + c1 z = 0
    a2 x + b2 y + c2 z = 0 then x, y, z can be eliminated. The eliminant is the |A| = 0.

Chitika (pronounced CHIH-TI-ka) which means "in a snap" in the South Indian language Telugu (my mother tongue), is a search-targeted advertising network that delivers contextual services - in a snap!
Chitika_logo
Though both the co-founders of Chitika are Indians, they are keeping out of Indian markets for the time being because of the lack of sufficient advertisers.

The recent update about Chitika is that in order to better the experience and earnings of their publisher community, it is motivated to bring on more advertisers to their marketplace and with the addition of these new, direct advertisers to Chitika Marketplace, it has taken the strategic step to re-approve all publisher domains including those that have been with them for a long period of time.

So, most of your domains as of now will be with the pending review status for which you need not worry as Chitika Publisher Support team is working diligently to expedite the domain approval process and chances are your domain shall be approved soon.

To check the domain approval status for your domains, log-in to your publisher account and from the top tabs go to My Account -> Approved Domains
go to My Account - Approved Domains
There is nothing you have to do if your domain is listed as Pending review, but instead if its status is listed as "Pending Further Review", then it means your domain is not qualified to show Chitika Premium ads. This qualification is based on your site's traffic amount and conversion quality to the advertisers. In such a case, if you disagree with the status allotted by Chitika to your domain, then you can submit a ticket to Chitika customer support telling them why your domain qualifies for showing premium ads.

Tabbed browsing is certainly a useful feature that allows users to work with multiple web pages at the same time in tabs within a single browser window

Tabbed browsing in Google Chrome
Tabbed Browsing with Multiple Tabs in Google Chrome

By default, when you open any link present in the current page in a new tab it opens in the background and you will have to again click it or use ALT+Tab keys to switch to it and view its contents. This doesn't make a ton of sense to many users as they basically click on a link to see the page and read whatever the link points to. And for those who don’t want to jump to newly opened tabs immediately as they would like to finish reading the current page first, this default feature is of great use. Just as there are different strokes for different folks, some like the default feature whereas some like to switch to newly opened tabs immediately.

If you are the one who prefer to jump to the newly opened tabs immediately, then you will have to makes some change in your browser 'Tabbed Browsing' settings. Here is how you can set this options in different web-browsers.

How-to Set the Option to Switch to Newly Opened Tabs Immediately in Internet Explorer

  1. Open your Internet Explorer and from the menu bar options go to Tools and select Internet Options
  2. From IE menu bar go to Tools and select Internet Options
Go to Tools and click Internet Options
  3. Under the General tab of the Internet Options window, click on Tabs Settings which opens Tabbed Browsing Settings for your Internet Explorer. There tick the option that says 'Always switch to new tabs when they are created' and click OK.
Internet Explorer Tabbed Browsing Settings
Enable Tabbed Browsing & tick the box - \'Always switch to new tabs when they are created\'

That's it! From now-on-wards whenever you open a link in a new tab, you can switch to it immediately.

How-to Set the Option to Switch to Newly Opened Tabs Immediately in Mozilla Firefox

  1. To set this option in the most popular browser - Mozilla Firefox, all you have to do is go to Tools >> Options from the menu bar and navigate to the Tabs section to check the box where it says 'When I Open a Link in a New Tab, Switch to it Immediately'.
Go to Firefox Tools >> Options and check the box - When I Open a Link in a New Tab, Switch to it Immediately
"Under Options check the box - When I Open a Link in a New Tab, Switch to it Immediately
Finally Click OK and you are done with it!!

How-to Switch to Newly Opened Tabs Immediately in Google Chrome

Unfortunately there is no inbuilt option to enable this feature in Google Chrome and most chrome users vote for this feature to be added in the coming versions.

Here are some of the alternatives that I explored which are quite effective in getting what we wanted - Switch to Newly Opened Tabs Immediately.
  1. Hold down the Shift key while clicking with your middle mouse button on a link, and it will open in a new tab in the foreground.
Hold Shift Key and click with your middle mouse button
Hold Shift key and Click the Middle Mouse Button
If your mouse doesn't have a middle button, then another way to get the same effect is to hold down the Ctrl + Shift keys while clicking with the left mouse button on a link which you want to open in new tab and switch to it immediately.
Ctrl + Shift + Left-click opens links in a new foreground
Hold Ctrl + Shift keys and Click the Left Mouse Button
  2. If you don't want to involve your keyboard at all in this process, then the best option for you is to click and drag the link you want to open to the tab bar.

Hope this helps...

If you know more ways to switch to newly opened tabs immediately in any web-browser, please do post them in the comment section below.

A few weeks day back when I was stumbling around looking for the top Indian blogs, an idea to buy a domain having Indian and bloggers in the domain name struck my mind and when I went to Namecheap Domain search to search for such domains, I came to know that most of them have already been taken. Back then I didn't check for the Whois Information to find out more about the details of the Registrants who have taken those domains which I wanted to reserve for my future projects but went straight away to one of the domains which claims itself as a blogging network for Indian bloggers and signed-up for an account to check whether its worth it or not.
Indian-bloggers-network

To be frank there isn't any real activity going on there, so I wanted to know more about the admin and went to check for the Whois Information and to my utter surprise I came to know that it was taken by none other than my online friend from the silicon valley - Srikanth Nagandla (@sriray) who is also the co-founder of famous Indian start-up Arktan. (To know more about ARKTAN check my previous post @ Arktan Puts An Arc Across Your Tangential Life On The Web)

The concept of bringing Indian bloggers under one network is a idea worth appreciating so I happened to chat with him as to know what was the motive to start such a network and then what's the reason to leave it abandoned. Believe me he is willing to work on this project seriously but because of his busy work schedule its seems as if he needs some help from some of the WordPress junkies out there. If you are wondering in the first place what is this Indian-Bloggers Network all about, then continue reading.
